- The Coalition Against Bigger Trucks (CABT), of which APWA is a member, is opposing provisions expected to be part of a ‘Supply Chain package’ scheduled for mark-up by the House Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Committee on May 23;
- Calling on T&I Chair Sam Graves (R-MO) and Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), the joint letter brings together 17 organizations speaking up against any effort to increase length and weight of trucks;
- Citing a March 2023 report, ‘The Impacts of Heavier Trucks on Local Bridges’, and noting a 2016 U.S. Dept. of Transportation Comprehensive Truck Size and Weight Limits Study Report to Congress, increasing truck weight and length will severely impact local infrastructure, especially bridges.
