The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published an official request for comments on its proposed First Responder Incident Advanced Reporting Program (FRIAR);
Currently, suspected safety defects are reported to NHTSA’S office of Defects Investigation (ODI) through Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ), meaning these possible defects and other issues, are reported somewhat indirectly;
The proposed FRIAR program would create a process whereby ODI prioritizes a swift review of incidents or issues reported to ODI by first responders;
