Dear Public Works First Responders and APWA Members,
APWA continues to monitor the impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We are hearing members’ stories about how they and their families are being impacted. And we’re seeing coverage on how they are serving as first responders to the people in impacted communities–ensuring roads are passable, water drinkable, and waste removeable.
The scope of the damage from these back-to-back hurricanes is overwhelming, but APWA is ready to provide resources and connections to technical experts who have been through this before. We have collected links to resources available from the National Weather Service (NWS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Ready.gov, APWA, and more below.
We know safety is always your highest priority, and that you take very seriously the responsibilities of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts upon which your communities depend.
We encourage you to remain resilient and keep striving to respond to your community’s needs and we will continue to focus on ways we can help now and throughout the recovery process. Please feel free to reach out to us with questions you may have.
