Determining the appropriate level of service (LoS) for winter maintenance is a critical component of effective public works operations. This live virtual program will guide you through the process of evaluating, establishing, and refining LoS standards that consider your agency’s unique operation context and community needs. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of incorporating multiple perspectives. Experts will provide guidance on who should be included in this process and to what degree they should be included. Participants will also gain insight into how well-documented LoS policies in your snow and ice manuals can be instrumental in supporting and justifying operational decisions when practices are subject to scrutiny.

After completing this course, participants will be better able to:

  1. Determine different LoS areas.
  2. Identify key players in your organization that should be included when establishing service levels.
  3. Utilize the Snow and Ice Control Manual as a reference to clearly document and communicate LoS for winter maintenance operations.
