The 8th annual APWA National Equipment Roadeo will bring together industry professionals for a day of skill-based competition and camaraderie. This premier event will take place near Lakeside Center in McCormick Place during the Public Works Expo (PWX).
Competitors will highlight their expertise in two distinct challenges using a Caterpillar backhoe and a Bobcat mini excavator, demonstrating precision and control in a dynamic environment. Winners will be awarded for each event, with an overall champion awarded for the best-combined score for both events.
We will feature a local DJ to call out each competitor with their selected hype song and personal stats, creating an engaging atmosphere that enhances the overall experience for participants and spectators.

Roadeo Registration
- Participants must be properly licensed to operate equipment.
- Competitors will need to pick up PWX badges at registration before 7 a.m. Monday, August 18, to compete.
- Registration includes Monday lunch in the exhibit hall, safety vest and hard hat, T-shirt, and Monday education sessions for the first 75 to register.
- Guests of competitors may attend with a free expo-only pass.
Registration closes Friday, August 1, 2025.

Winners will be announced on the exhibit floor. Following the awards, photos will be taken with award winners at each sponsor’s booth.
