FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, MO—The American Public Works Association (APWA) recently announced its 2025 Public Works Project of the Year Award recipients. Winners oversee infrastructure projects that are publicly developed, owned, and maintained, and promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects. These awards recognize the alliance between the managing agency, the contractor, the consultant, and their cooperative achievements.

“APWA is honored to celebrate the 2025 APWA Projects of the Year award winners. With aging infrastructure facing challenges across North America, public works projects are critical to rebuilding our resiliency and telling our story to support infrastructure funding,” said APWA President Dominick A. Longobardi. “Public works professionals deliver outstanding services that improve all of our daily lives, and I’m so excited to congratulate these Project of the Year recipients in person at our industry’s premier conference, PWX in Chicago.”

2025 Project of the Year Award winners will be recognized during the Awards Ceremony on Monday, August 18 at the APWA Public Works Expo (PWX), which is taking place in Chicago, Illinois this year. PWX is the largest conference of its kind for public works, welcoming more than 5,000 professionals each year. In addition to the ceremony, a video showcasing the winners will be posted on APWA TV on Wednesday, August 20. View a complete list of winners and read project summaries here.

“Innovation in public works is critical now more than ever as we face strains on our infrastructure imposed by age, increased need for resiliency due to the increase of natural disasters, new development, and, in some cases, lack of resources. That’s why it’s critical we celebrate and elevate our Project of the Year Award winners. They inspire and demonstrate what it takes to improve the quality of life for all of our communities. I truly commend each of this year’s honorees,” said APWA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Scott D. Grayson, CAE.

Awards are won in four divisions and five categories. The divisions are (1) projects less than $5 million; (2) projects of $5 million, but less than $25 million; (3) projects of $25 million to $75 million; and (4) projects of more than $75 million.
