When a segment of aging sewer line along the shores of Lake Washington needed to be replaced across the City of Everett, Washington’s signature waterfront park and Bellevue Marina, the solution required a perfect blend of pump station functionality with design and aesthetic features of the planned expansion of Meydenbauer Bay Beach Park. Although the solution seemed obvious, its implementation required more creativity and thinking outside the box. This presentation will discuss the project challenges, creative solutions and how two City departments worked together to successfully deliver a very visible (yet invisible) project.

Learning Objectives:

1. Plan and implement cost-effective improvements for aging sanitary sewers.

2. Evaluate and select unique and creative alternatives to provide sustainable and resilient sewer infrastructure.

3. Develop strategies for City interdepartmental collaboration when delivering independent, yet closely interrelated projects.
