The International Public Works Director Roundtable is an interactive annual session that targets public works directors (PWDs) or their equivalent across the world. Using the tagline “Where Directors Go to Grow,” we plan on building on the successes of Toronto, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Orlando, Kansas City, Seattle, Charlotte, and San Diego. The International Public Works Director Roundtable continuously ranks as one of the most popular and highest-rated sessions each year. This session is designed to be participatory and to maximize engagement with all the directors present. Directors are seated at roundtables encouraging interaction with each other. This session enables directors from around the world to network and learn from each other’s experiences. This session is moderated by a very capable panel, including Elizabeth Treadway, a past president of APWA; Chris Evers, one of the Top Ten award recipients of 2023 and a past resident of the Florida Chapter; and Elia Twigg, PE, Chair of the APWA Leadership and Management Committee. Rather than present technical data, much of the speaking is done by the attendees. Previous roundtable topics have been selected through the moderators’ experience and the input of PWDs via an online survey. The speakers encourage attendees to tackle the tough issues and they provide APWA resources that can help.
At the conclusion of this session participants will be better able to:
• Advocate for public works.
• Collaborate with peers from across the world in pursuit of solutions to public works challenges.
• Acquire relationships and network with peers from across the world.
