Alberta Transportation had witnessed an increase in Motor Vehicle Accidents involving vehicles being blown-off the due to extreme cross-winds. To combat this issue, Alberta Transportation extended the Road Weather Information System (RWIS) with a means of automatically controlling Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). This presentation discusses the design and benefits of the system.
