The International Federation of Municipal Engineering (IFME) is comprised of nearly two dozen member countries and connects municipal and public works engineers worldwide to share knowledge, innovation, and a united dedication to continuous improvement for our communities. The American Public Works Association (APWA) represents IFME’s values in the US and Canada. APWA’s affiliation with IFME is a longstanding partnership dating back to the 1970s. Participating in its global community ensures access to public works best practices worldwide that can strengthen municipal services down to the local level.
The latest result of our collaboration is IFME’s Disaster Recovery Management Guidebook. This newly released resource is intended for municipal engineers and public works professionals whose work intersects disaster risk, recovery, and resilience. Featuring real-world disaster response case studies from six countries, this guidebook highlights the importance of disaster preparedness and serves as an essential reference tool in the midst of an emergency.
