New Event Builder How-To Guide Available

Recent enhancements have been made to the event-building process in Fonteva. The updated How-To Guide covers the three new enhancements and provides step-by-step guidance for chapter leaders.

New Resources!

Sustainability and Resiliency Committee Resource Guide
The Resource Guide for Chapter Sustainability and Resiliency Committees is designed to provide your chapter with information, ideas, resources, and contacts as you create, build, and grow your sustainability and resiliency committee. Whether you are a chapter leader or member, have already established a sustainability and resiliency committee, don’t know where to start, want to share your success, and/or learn from others, you’ll find this Resource Guide helpful.

Supervision, Management, and Leadership Frameworks
APWA’s Leadership and Management Committee developed the Supervision, Management, and Leadership Education Frameworks to support chapters in planning continuing education and professional development on these topics. Created with input from committee and knowledge team members, the frameworks provide a common understanding of supervision, management, and leadership within public works.

The frameworks are intended to help chapters identify education opportunities and support consistent terminology and messaging across APWA programs and resources. Chapters are encouraged to reference the frameworks when planning conferences, workshops, and other educational programming.

APWA Accreditation Announcements

Accreditation is the mark of professionalism, indicating a public works agency has made a commitment to continuous improvement in delivering public works operations and services to its community. Accreditation recognizes an agency’s policies, procedures, and practices, which have been evaluated against nationally-recognized management practices determined to be appropriate for that specific agency.

The following public works agencies were accredited in May 2026:

Region 3

  • Greenville, SC Department of Public Works—1st accreditation

Region 9

  • Arapahoe County, CO Public Works and Development Department—3rd accreditation
  • Colorado Springs, CO Public Works Department—1st accreditation
  • El Paso County, CO Department of Public Works—1st accreditation

To help chapters recognize and celebrate accredited and re-accredited agencies, we have provided a toolbox to help. The toolbox information can be found here: Promote APWA Accreditation: Chapter Outreach Resources.

For further information on APWA’s accreditation program, please feel free to contact Jeanette Klamm, Associate Director of Credentialing at accreditation@apwa.org.

Chapter Special Event Insurance Update

APWA has secured a blanket insurance policy covering Roadeos and related types of events from January 15, 2026, through January 14, 2027.

We’ve negotiated a low, flat cost of $960 per event, providing protection for participants and peace of mind for your chapter. APWA will invoice the chapter/branch treasurer unless an alternate billing contact has been designated.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Fill out the Chapter/Branch Roadeo Information Form at least 30 days prior to your event.
  2. Submit the form at least 30 days prior to your event start date to chapterservices@apwa.org.
  3. You’ll receive a certificate of insurance within 48 hours of submission.

Questions can be sent to chapterservices@apwa.org.

Invitations are sent to all chapter leaders approximately two weeks prior to the call. Questions can be sent to Jill Wilbeck.
