Introduction to Basic Stormwater Concepts is the prerequisite course for the Stormwater Operations and Maintenance Certificate. It can be taken as a stand-alone course for CEUs; however, those intending to earn the certificate must complete AND PASS Introduction to Basic Stormwater Concepts.
This course provides the foundational concepts of stormwater management, ideal for those new to the field of stormwater including operator and maintenance staff, managers, and public works directors. The program will provide a basic understanding of common terminology, regulatory requirements and framework including MS4 requirements, and common challenges encountered within stormwater management. This course is a prerequisite for the Stormwater Operations and Maintenance Certificate course. In combination these programs are also a great refresher series for those interested in obtaining their Certified Stormwater Management credential.
After completing this course, participants will be better able to:
- Identify the common stormwater problems and ways to address them.
- Describe the federal, state, and local regulatory framework, including MS4 permit compliance requirements.
- Explain the essential components of a stormwater management program.
