About This Group
It is our responsibility as public works professionals to be the stewards of the rights-of-way to ensure sustainable utilization of the public rights-of-way in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. APWA’s Utilities and Public Rights-of-Way (UPROW) Committee is actively creating resources to assist right-of-way managers, engineers, utilities, other right-of-way users, contractors, and elected officials in the management of public rights-of-way.
Mission
Provide education and information raising awareness about utility-related issues and promoting the best use of the public rights-of-way.
Resources for Members
The UPROW Committee has developed resources for members which can be found in the Resource Center and on the Focus on UPROW webpage.
Utilities and Public Rights-of-Way Knowledge Team
In an effort to expand volunteer opportunities to those who may be interested in contributing to the UPROW Committee, the committee has created a knowledge team. Members of the knowledge team will commit to share information with APWA members through working on projects such as writing articles, presenting Click, Listen & Learn sessions, speaking at PWX and other conferences and other methods.
APWA Connect – Share and Discuss
Members interested in discussing UPROW topics with other APWA members are encouraged to subscribe within APWA Connect, which will be relaunched in 2025. This forum connects you with other utilities and public rights-of-way professionals and provides opportunities to post and answer questions to your peers.
