Dominick A. Longobardi is the Deputy Town Comptroller/Director of Purchasing for the Town of Hempstead, New York—”America’s Largest Township.” In his full-time capacity in this position, Longobardi oversees all purchasing functions, including preparation of contracts, contract negotiations, and contract dispute resolutions, and assists the Town Comptroller with the oversight and operation of the Comptroller’s office, including the accounting section, funds, and bank account management and the Town’s payroll division. He previously served as Assistant to the Commissioner of Sanitation for the Town of Hempstead, where he assisted in the entire administration of the department.

Recently, Longobardi served as the elected mayor of the full-service Incorporated Village of Floral Park, New York. This is a community of more than 16,000 residents where he oversaw a staff of more than 300 employees, including the 56-member police department, all-volunteer fire department, recreation center and pool complex, library, and, of course, a public works department including sanitation, highway, parks, tree, fleet maintenance, and buildings maintenance divisions.

Longobardi has been active with APWA for many years on the chapter and national levels. He is a past president of the APWA New York Metro Chapter and Long Island Branch and has served as the Council of Chapters Delegate on the Advocacy Task Force. He is also a past treasurer and is currently a member of the APWA Foundation Board of Trustees.

Outside of APWA, Longobardi currently serves as president of the Town of Hempstead Employees Federal Credit Union, which consists of almost 10,000 members with assets of approximately $150M. He serves on the board of directors of the Water Authority of Western Nassau County, New York, which provides potable drinking water to over 28,000 customers. He is treasurer of the Long Island Sanitation Officials Association. He chairs the Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition, a program under the federal Department of Energy promoting alternative fuels in the transportation industry and is a member of the board of directors of the Floral Park-Bellerose Leadership Foundation.

Longobardi is married to his college sweetheart, Denise, and is the proud father of two children, Nicholas and Krista.
