Jeffery P. Brown has more than 20 years of experience working directly in the public works field, with both state and local government experience. He began his career in local government as a staff engineer and progressed rapidly to leading the Engineering & Infrastructure Department as the Department Director for the City of Fayetteville, NC, before the age of 35. Brown has directly managed construction management, engineering, facilities and grounds, fleet services, public utilities, real estate, solid waste, stormwater management, streets, and traffic services. He is currently serving as the Public Works Director of the Town of Morrisville, NC.

Brown has served as the Chapter Delegate for the North Carolina Chapter since 2016 and has represented Region III on the Council of Chapters Steering Committee for the past three years. He served on the chapter’s Leadership and Management Division Board and served as Division President in 2011. He also served on the chapter’s Facilities & Grounds Division Board where he served as Division President in 2016. At the national level he served six years on the Facilities & Grounds Technical Committee, chairing the committee for two years. During this time Brown was an educational session speaker at PWX on a continual basis, presented on Click, Listen & Learn educational programs, and authored numerous articles published in the APWA Reporter. He is a past graduate of APWA’s Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA II), and for several years following his completion of ELA II he coordinated and oversaw the mentoring aspect of the course.
